Type of Course: This is elective course offered in 1st semester for BA Programme.

Course Description: It will familiarize students with the diverse kinds of writings in the different genres of Hindi literature through the ages. It comprises a selection of Hindi texts from poetry, prose and non-fiction which will give students a broader perspective on the linguistic and literary traditions of Hindi. The course includes representative poetry from devotional and pre-modern poets. The readings in fiction consist of a short story, a travelogue and an essay. There will also be a focus on satirical writings, radio drama and sketches by some important prose writers of Hindi. It will also study non-literary, thought provoking writings in Hindi on subjects such as Economics, History, Sociology, Philosophy, Music, Science and Culture by different writers and intellectuals.
