Graduated as a Product Designer from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, in 1990. Initially worked as a freelance designer and later joined the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, as a faculty member from the year 1993 to 2003.
Served as the founding Director of Craft Development Institute, Srinagar (an autonomous body set-up by the Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir and Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India) from 2004 to 2013 and lead several distinguished initiatives on design innovation and training of artisans connected with various regional crafts, introduction of a unique Masters programme in ‘Craft Management and Entrepreneurship’ and registration of six traditional crafts of Kashmir, under the Geographical Indications Act as well as setting up a Testing and Certification Laboratory for genuine handmade Pashmina.
Social Entrepreneurship, Design Education and Institution Building, Design Management, Capacity Development for the unorganised sector especially related to skill based economic activities.
Member, Steering Committee for Handlooms & Handicrafts for envisioning the 12th Five Year Plan, Planning Commission, Govt. of India.

AUD Centre for Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ACIIE) is a not-for-profit company registered under section 8 of the Companies Act. ACIIE has been set-up by the Ambedkar University Delhi with an objective of creating a culture and ecosystem for entrepreneurship at the University and explore opportunities of entrepreneurial development and enterprise creation in the disciplines of social sciences and humanities at large.
